Nestled in the tranquil surroundings of Vinh Ha commune, Hà Trung Pagoda (Phổ Thành) stands as a testament to Vietnam’s rich Buddhist history. Despite its humble size, this spiritual sanctuary boasts an impressive lineage of eminent monks and houses precious religious artifacts dating back to the 17th century. Recognized as a provincial cultural heritage site, Ha Trung Pagoda offers visitors a peaceful retreat and a glimpse into the region’s spiritual past.
Overview of the Hà Trung Pagoda
Despite its remote location, Hà Trung Pagoda gained prominence in 1695 when Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu appointed the distinguished Chinese monk Nguyen Thieu as its abbot. Its significance further increased when Venerable Thach Liem visited during his journey to Quang Nam province—a historic event documented in “Hai Ngoai Ky Su”. The pagoda treasures include a 1.33-meter stone Guanyin statue from China, two wooden Amitabha Buddha statues, and a bronze bell cast in 1672. In 2006, it was officially recognized as a province-level cultural historic relic, cementing its importance in Hue’s spiritual landscape.
